Multi-platinum, two-time Grammy winning singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat and Platinum recording artist Gavin DeGraw have announced that they will embark on a co-headlining 2012 North American Summer tour. On Sunday, May 27th, at 8pm, Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw will appear at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre.

DeGraw will perform songs from his third studio album, SWEETER, including his platinum selling hit single “Not Over You,” and his just-released new single “Sweeter,” both co-written with OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder.  Gavin is scheduled to perform “Sweeter” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 28^th.

Caillat’s set will include new songs plus material from all three of her albums:  COCO; BREAKTHROUGH; and her most recent, ALL OF YOU, which features the hit tracks “I Do,” “Brighter Than the Sun,” and “Favorite Song,” a duet with Common.  Caillat and Common will perform the track for the first time ever on Ellen on April 6^th.

Caillat’s first single “Bubbly,” (from her debut album COCO) caught a generation’s imagination and has become one of the best-selling digital tracks of all time.  Billboard named Caillat its Breakthrough Artist of the Year.  Her follow-up, BREAKTHROUGH broke at No. 1.  Later that year, Caillat was honored with four Grammy nominations and won two for her collaborations with Jason Mraz and Taylor Swift.    “Brighter Than the Sun,” the second hit from All OF YOU, has been featured in more than 21 films, TV shows and commercials, making it the most licensed new song this decade. She supports the Surfrider Foundation, Save the Music, Farm Sanctuary, and the Humane Society of the U.S., for which she is a spokesperson.

DeGraw is no stranger to the top of the charts, he first broke through with the 2003 release of his debut album, Chariot, which sold over a million copies, earned platinum certification, and yielded three hit singles: “I Don’t Want To Be,” “Follow Through,” and the title-track, “Chariot.” Gavin’s self-titled second album debuted at No. 1 on the digital sales chart and at No. 7 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart in 2008, earning Gavin his first Top 10 album. Rock legends ZZ Top will perform at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Friday, June 8^th, along with 3 Doors Down and Gretchen Wilson.

Having the same members for over 40 years, ZZ Top has sold over 25 million albums in the U.S. alone. ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. They reached the peak of their commercial success in the 1970s and 1980s, scoring many hit songs, but continue to tour and release albums. They are well known also for their trademark chest length beards, and sunglasses (a reference to their 1979 hit “Cheap Sunglasses”).

3 Doors Down rose to national fame with their first single, “Kryptonite”, which charted in the top three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band then signed onto Republic Records and released their debut album, The Better Life, in 2000 which has been certified 6x platinum in the United States. Their second album, Away from the Sun, (2002) debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 chart and went multi-platinum in the United States. The band released Seventeen Days in 2005, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum within its first month of release. Their fourth, self-titled album, 3 Doors Down, also debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Gretchen Wilson is a Grammy award winning country artist, who rose to fame with the hit song “Redneck Woman” in 2004. Since that time, Wilson has charted 13 singles on the Billboard Country charts. She has sold over 6 million records worldwide.

Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band – On Sale Now!

Ringo Starr announced his 13th All Starr Band, which will launch June 14, 2012 from Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ontario and conclude July 21, 2012 at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, California. New to the All Starrs are Steve Lukather (Toto) and Gregg Rolie (Santana & Journey) who will join All Starr alumni Richard Page, Todd Rundgren, Mark Rivera, and Gregg Bissonette. The tour will stop at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Friday, June 29^th.

The tour is being produced by Dave Hart and as always fans can expect to hear a jukebox worth of hits. Ringo classic’s such as “It Don’t Come Easy”, “Photograph”, “Little Help From My Friends”, “Yellow Submarine” and “Wings,” from Starr’s just released 17th solo record, Ringo 2012 (Hip-O/Ume). All Starr’s hits include “Rosanna,” “Broken Wings,” “Hello It’s Me,” “Black Magic Woman.”

Ringo will spend his birthday on the road, with a performance at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on July 7. Following in the tradition of the last few years, at Noon from the Hard Rock Nashville, Ringo will ask anyone anywhere, and everyone everywhere, to join him in a wish for Peace & Love.

The Grammy Award winning American rock band Train will kick off their first US tour in support of the group’s new studio album, California 37 (released yesterday).  The tour kicks off on July 26 at the Time Warner Center in Charlotte NC, with support Mat Kearney and Andy Grammer on select dates of the tour. In addition, the band are supporting the release of California 37 with a variety of select national television appearances (including a weeklong residency as house band on “Rachael Ray”) and the launch of “California 37,” the third varietal from Train’s award-winning Save Me, San Francisco Wine Company.

 

The much awaited successor to 2009′s multi-platinum Save Me, San Francisco (which showcased 2010′s “Hey, Soul Sister,” the top-selling song of 2010), California 37 is available everywhere now.

 

Train recorded California 37 in San Francisco and Los Angeles with Butch Walker and Espionage producing.  

 

Released as a digital download in January, “Drive By” has become Train’s latest bona fide international sensation and is top 5 across the world and #1 in Germany, Netherlands, Finland, India, New Zealand and Switzerland.  In the US the record’s currently top 10 at iTunes and  #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Drive By” has already sold over 1.5 downloads worldwide.

Check-in is at our adjacent sister property, La Fiesta Ocean Inn & Suites, located at A1A Beach Boulevard. If your plans have you checking in later than 9 pm please let us know in advance so we can make those arrangements.

Reservations:  Credit cards are charged at the time you make your reservation. One-night will be charged at that time, and if your stay includes a Friday and Saturday, two (2) nights will be charged.

Rates are subject to change, and are based on double occupancy. A two or three night minimum may be required on weekends, holidays or special events.

Cancellations:  We are a B & B with 8 uniquely named and appointed rooms in different locations on the property. When we receive your reservation we turn away others for that room and for those dates and for that reason you have 7 days prior to arrival to cancel your reservation, change dates or length of stay.  Changes made six days or less prior to arrival will be charged one night for weeknights and 2 nights for weekend stays. 

Parking:  One parking space is reserved for each guest. Due to limited parking and in consideration of other guests, no visitors please.

Pets:  Pets are not permitted on property. There are several good locations nearby to board pets.

Smoking:  Smoking is not permitted in guest rooms. We have designated areas outside.

Taxes: 10% local sales and bed taxes are added per night.

The oceanfront property that the Beachfront Bed & Breakfast rests on today was developed in 1927 by an attorney and his wife who enjoyed vacationing in St. Augustine Beach. The acreage stretched from the Atlantic Ocean to Florida’s famous State Highway A1A and was comprised of the main home, cottage, greenhouse and a horse stable.

The home was built on a foundation of coquina, a Spanish sedimentary rock, which is well known for its durability and strength. The exterior made of cypress timber and placed on a diagonal, makes the home very strong which is great for its oceanfront location. A sea wall that is located 40 feet East of the main house and natural sand dunes add protection from the occasional coastal storms. 

When the attorney passed away the property was sold to a local St. Augustine family. The Gebert’s owned the home for many years, leaving behind a few family reminiscences which include pencil marks on the kitchen wall that show the varying heights of the children as they got older. During the 1980’s and early 1990’s the cottage and first floor of the home were rental units known as “Sandy Land.” The Gebert’s sold the estate in 1998, which is when it was transformed into a bed & breakfast.

The current owners, Lauren & Rich O’Brien met in 2001 at our sister property, La Fiesta Inn & Suites and were married in 2003. They purchased the B & B in 2005 and are also owners of the adjacent sister property. Lauren O’Brien grew up in the Chicago suburbs and has been visiting St. Augustine Beach since she was a child. Lauren has a background in sales and hospitality, and has been an active leader in an effort to replenish St. Augustine Beach with protective sand fencing. Rich O’Brien lived in New England and Indiana prior to moving to Florida in the mid 1980’s and he has spent most of his adult life in the hospitality business.  Both Lauren and Rich enjoy gardening and exploring new destinations together, making the ownership of these two beautiful properties a perfect fit!
